What is SAFe?
The Scaled Agile Framework (abbreviated as SAFe), is a set of organisation and workflow patterns intended to guide enterprises in scaling lean and agile practices. SAFe is the most commonly used framework that seeks to address the problems encountered when scaling beyond a single team. 45% of companies worldwide currently using scaled agile approaches use SAFe.
Who can benefit?
Almost anybody involved in project / programme or development work can benefit from an understanding of SAFe. This includes, but is not limited to your executives, leaders and managers; project and programme managers; developers and testers; product owners and managers; scrum masters; and solution / enterprise architects.
What about Project / Programme Managers ?
Simply, they don’t exist in the SAFe Framework. However don’t be overly concerned about this if this is your current role title. There are various other roles within the SAFe Framework that use similar skillsets. For example a Release Train Engineer will share several key competencies with a more traditional Programme Manager.
